Katy Perry And John Mayer ‘Not Talking At Home’
The singer talks about her relationship with boyfriend John Mayer
Katy Perry has revealed she’s not always able to talk to her boyfriend John Mayer at home. But it’s not down to fighting, just a hazard of their jobs as they get put on vocal rest.
While talking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday, the 29-year-old revealed that there are times when the pair are forced to be completely silent at home. They are not even able to whisper.

"I understood that he couldn't talk, and the only way he could communicate was through an iPad," Katy said. "Some days I have to go on complete vocal rest, like no anything, no whispering. Whispering is actually really bad. There's just a lot of silence in our house most of the time."
Ellen suggested that the pair should play Pictionary while they are at home, but Katy quipped. “We should just learn sign language”.
Katy was surprised by her boyfriend John, 36, and she made a joke about Kim Kardashian’s appearance in Kanye West’s Bound 2 video and how the reality star’s hair was actually blowing the wrong way. Mayer quipped that Katy’s humour was all that the couple needed at home.
"This is why voice rest is just fine," he said. "You get these chestnuts."
The happy couple might not do a lot of talking at home, but the pair have released a single together, ‘Who You Love’, and Katy said that it’s about the trials of a relationship and how you have to preserve.
"I think when two people are involved, someone other than yourself, you have to figure out a compromise in a good way. And there's a lot of respect," she says.
"We have a lot of fun. You know, we have music as an understanding and love between each other, and we connect, and you know it's like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it's been tough, I don't really have to go into it. He just gets it. You know, so it's nice with that understanding."
